Long ago, in a time when the deserts were still green and full of beautiful wildlife, a young leopard named Leo lived in a faraway desert. Leo was a young leopard with a golden coat and dark spots, and he could hide easily among the warm sands of the desert.
Leo was always looking for food, and he ran with great interest to find his own prizes. With his sharp eyes he watched for every little movement, so carefully that he could even hear the quietest sound. But more than anything else, he wished for a great find, a find that would show he was growing up and full of life.
On one of those hot summer days, Leo followed tracks he had never seen before. By chance he came upon a large egg on the sand. Leo was so taken with this great discovery that he forgot to wonder whose egg it might be.
Wonderfully, this egg belonged to a big desert creature named Ryan, a great wanderer of the desert whom all the wildlife knew. He was a hunter, and he found large meals for himself.
Leo had a kind heart, and without even thinking twice he decided not to open the egg, but to take it back safely to the one who had laid it. He felt that this choice was a sign of his growing up and of his good heart.
When Leo reached the safe nest, he met Ryan. Ryan had not expected him, and he thought he might catch Leo for his own meal. But Leo was lucky and ran away from him, and he brought the egg back to safety.
This adventure shows that even in a dry, hard desert, wildlife can show respect and kindness. Leo learned something new: that growing up matters as much as a good heart, and both of these can shine in a wonderful way in the life of wildlife, even in places hidden from people’s eyes.
The End.
