Once upon a time, in a big, beautiful forest, there lived an old, tall tree named the Secret Tree. Because of its long life, this tree had hidden many secrets in its heart. The forest animals were always curious to know what secrets the Secret Tree held in its heart, but the Secret Tree told no one anything.
One day, a little squirrel named Sina decided to discover the tree’s secrets. With his friends, a playful rabbit named Bobby and a little hedgehog named Teppli, he went to the Secret Tree. Sina said politely, “Hello, Secret Tree! We would very much like to know your secrets. Can you tell us one of them?”
The Secret Tree said in a quiet, kind voice, “Hello, Sina and dear friends! I have many secrets, but I tell one of them only to those who have a pure, kind heart. Are you ready?”
They all said with excitement and eagerness, “Yes, we are ready!”
The Secret Tree went on in a quiet voice, “Very well. Today I want to tell you a secret that may be able to help you. Inside me, a magic seed is hidden. If this seed is planted in a good place and cared for well, it becomes a big, wonderful tree that can grant your wishes.”
Sina, Bobby, and Teppli said in surprise and wonder, “Oh! That is wonderful! How can we find this seed?”
The Secret Tree smiled and said, “You must take good care of me and show me your love and kindness. If you do this, I will give you the magic seed as a gift.”
Sina, Bobby, and Teppli decided to visit the Secret Tree every day and look after it. They gathered dry leaves from around the tree, gave the tree water, and talked with it kindly. The days passed, and the Secret Tree felt that these three little friends truly cared about it from the heart.
One morning, when Sina, Bobby, and Teppli visited the Secret Tree, the tree said in a quiet, kind voice, “You have shown that you are truly kind and caring. Now I am ready to give you the magic seed.”
The tree bent one of its branches and showed them a little seed the color of gold. Sina picked up the seed carefully, and they all looked together for a good place to plant it. Near the forest they found soft, sunny ground and planted the seed there.
From that day on, Sina, Bobby, and Teppli visited the seed every day, gave it water, and looked after it with love and kindness. A few weeks later, the seed became a little sprout, and then a beautiful green sapling. The sapling grew quickly and became a big, wonderful tree.
On the day the magic tree grew up, a quiet voice was heard from the tree: “Hello, kind friends! I am the Wish Tree. With your kindness and care you have shown that you have a pure heart. Now each of you may make a wish, and I will grant it.”
Sina, Bobby, and Teppli began to wish with eagerness. Sina wished that all the forest animals would always live in peace and happiness. Bobby wished that there would always be tasty, enough food for all the animals. Teppli wished that all his friends would always be glad and healthy.
The Wish Tree smiled and said, “Your wishes have been granted. You have shown that love and kindness can change the world.”
From that day on, the forest filled with peace, happiness, and joy. All the animals thanked Sina, Bobby, and Teppli and learned that with love and kindness they can make the world a better place. And so it was that the secret of the tree became the forest’s greatest gift.
