Once upon a time, on a bright and sunny day, a young boy named Armin met a big tree in the backyard of his house. The tree was many years old. It stood quietly in a corner of the yard, and from under its shade Armin could hear its kind, friendly sound.
From the time Armin knew how to find his way, he always talked with this tree. He gave the tree the name Friend, because he thought that any tree you love can be a true friend.
Every day Armin came into the yard for a few minutes and became friends with the tree. He told it everything: his adventures, his everyday moments, and even his dreams for the future. The tree always listened carefully and made Armin feel good.
One day, Armin and his family decided to go on a trip to the forest. He was very excited, because it was the first time he wanted to explore the new, wonderful sights of the forest. Armin took lots of toys and went on the trip with his family.
In the forest, Armin saw big trees covered with plenty of green leaves. He loved every tree he saw and said hello to them. But no tree gave him the feeling he held in his heart. No tree was like Friend in his backyard, who always welcomed him into its world.
When Armin came near trees with bright colors and leaves bigger than any he had seen in the city, he felt a little lonely. He remembered Friend and the close friendship he had with that tree. Armin remembered how he became friends with the tree in his yard, and how precious that friendship was to him.
As time passed, Armin decided to carry this friendship with Friend into the forest. Even though the forest trees were different, he was sure that because everything on earth is connected, he should find a tree to stand in for Friend.
Armin looked around more carefully and at last found a happy, friendly tree, which he named Second Friend. He told Second Friend that he would always be its friend and would never forget it.
Armin went home with his family with a happy heart. From that day on, he went to Friend and Second Friend every day. He talked to them and told them about everything. He was not alone anymore, and he felt he always had a tree friend who listened to him and always answered.
